Our international weekend

Does this look appetizing? Sunday evening we attended the "Sights and Sounds of Africa" event at our local university. We did this last year as we were praying about what country our son would be adopted from and it was fun to bring him with us this year. The program was a bit long for the little ones but we enjoyed the African fashion show, dancing, poetry and skits. The best part was the feast afterwards which had many dishes representing different African countries. Better yet was meeting a new Ethiopian student attending the university and we were sure to get his contact information and invite him to our next attempt at an Ethiopian feast. I tried to get more photos but it was too dark for my camera during the performances.

We really had a full wekend of celebrating the world as our local international adoptive families group met on Saturday.

Here are some adorable kids coloring flags from around the world.

Boo was very proud of her quetzal coloring (the national bird of Guatemala)

Spiderman wasn't thrilled about wearing his Ethiopian clothes. Maybe he thought he was getting even by seeing how many brownies he could consume under mom's radar.

I think we had 8 countires represented by the beautiful children at our gathering. It was fun to see many of the kids dressed in their "native clothing" and I'm only sorry I didn't get a group shot of them all. This was Spiderman's first time to meet the group and he preferred to gravitate to the kids he knows (no surprise).

Sharon, that looks like it was alot of fun. I need to check into our local University and see if they do the same type of thing! And good for you for making the cookies. It is messy but if the kids help you cook it can count as math for the day! LOL!
